Frequently Asked Questions

Why can I only connect one Notion workspace?

Inklin is intentionally designed to connect to a single Notion workspace. This keeps the app simple and focused on what matters: your tasks. Most personal users have one primary workspace, and constraining to one connection means less configuration, faster syncing, and a cleaner experience. If you need to switch workspaces, you can disconnect and reconnect to a different one in Settings.

Why can I only use one task database?

Simplicity is a core design principle of Inklin. While Notion allows you to create dozens of databases, Inklin focuses on a single task database so you have one clear place for all your todos. This eliminates the "which database should I use?" friction and gives you a clean, unified task list. We've found this constraint actually helps people stay more organized.

My tasks have linked databases (relations). Why do I need to grant access to those too?

If your task database uses Notion relations to link to other databases (like Projects or Areas), Inklin needs read access to those databases to display meaningful information. During setup, when you authorize Inklin, make sure to also select any related databases your tasks link to. Otherwise, Inklin will only see relation IDs instead of the actual names.

Where is my data stored?

Inklin has no backend servers. Your Notion access token is stored securely in your device's iOS Keychain, and task data is cached locally on your device using iOS's encrypted storage. All communication happens directly between your iPhone and Notion's servers over HTTPS. Your data never passes through us.

How do recurring tasks work?

Notion doesn't have native recurring task support, so Inklin handles this locally. When you create a recurring task, Inklin stores the recurrence rule on your device. When you complete a recurring task, Inklin marks the current one as done in Notion and creates the next occurrence automatically. This means recurring tasks only work when managed through Inklin.

Can I use Inklin offline?

Yes! Inklin caches your tasks locally, so you can view and complete tasks even without internet. Any changes you make offline are queued and synced automatically when you're back online. You'll see an indicator when the app is in offline mode.

How do I change my connected database or field mappings?

Go to Settings in Inklin and tap "Field Mapping" to re-run the setup wizard. You can select a different database or change how Inklin maps your Notion properties (like which field is your due date, status, or priority). Your local data will be refreshed to match the new configuration.

Why don't my changes in Notion appear immediately in Inklin?

Notion's API doesn't support real-time updates (no webhooks), so Inklin syncs periodically. Pull down to refresh for immediate updates, or wait for the background sync. Changes you make in Inklin sync to Notion almost instantly, but changes made directly in Notion require a refresh to appear in the app.
